This website
- Visits are counted with GoatCounter, a cookie-free tool. It records the page visited, the referring site, the country and the browser type — not who you are. No cookies, no tracking across sites.
- The site is hosted on GitHub Pages (GitHub Inc., USA). Like every host, GitHub keeps technical server logs (IP address, time, page) for security.
- If you leave your email on this site, it's stored with Kit (USA) only to send you news about the app and, if you ticked the box, an invitation to test it — rarely, and never shared. Email chefharris.app@gmail.com any time and it's deleted.
The Chef Harris app
Your account — The app creates an anonymous account on your phone. To keep your profile across a new phone or a reinstall, tap "Secure my account" and add an email and a password. Your first name stays on your phone; it is never uploaded.
What the app keeps on the server — Your cook profile: diet (omnivore, vegetarian, vegan or pescatarian), the allergens you tick, kitchen-confidence level, household servings, saved and planned recipes, rescued ingredients per cooked dish, the answers you give Chef Harris, and usage counters. Allergens and diet are health-related data; they're stored so an allergy is never lost on a new phone. Stored with Supabase in Frankfurt, Germany.
What goes to OpenAI — To write your recipes, the app sends your ingredients, the dish you ask for, your kitchen gear, your diet and allergens, and SOS questions to OpenAI (USA). We never send your name, email or account ID. OpenAI may keep these inputs for up to 30 days to check for misuse; they are not used to train its models.
Allergens — Chef Harris checks only the 14 main allergens you tick in your profile. For anything else, check the label yourself.
Crash reports — Sent to Sentry (EU servers). They carry technical details and your anonymous account ID — no name, no email, nothing you typed.
What the app doesn't do — No ads, no selling of data, no location, no camera, no contacts.
Deleting — Email chefharris.app@gmail.com from your account email, or with the anonymous ID shown on the Profile screen. I delete your profile, recipes, ledger and counters from the server and confirm by reply within 30 days. Test-phase data of anyone who stops using the app is deleted at the end of the test.
Age — Chef Harris is for people aged 16 and over.
Your rights — Under Swiss data protection law you can ask what I hold about you, have it corrected or deleted. Write to chefharris.app@gmail.com.
